The Memphis Masterworks Chorale will present "The Creation" by Franz Joseph Haydn, on Friday, February 10 at 7:30pm in the Sanctuary with renowned soloists Mary Wilson, Randall Rushing and Evan Jones. This free event is the choir's inaugural concert and features one of classical music's greatest choral works.
The Memphis Masterworks Chorale, under the direction of Gabe Statom, is a select, but diverse chorus comprised of those singers who have a desire and interest in performing sacred masterworks. Accompanied by members of the Memphis Symphony, Memphis Masterworks is a venue open to singers ages 15 and up who enjoy singing.
Mary Wilson is a critically acclaimed soprano whose roles and appearances have garnered only the highest praise. In high demand, Mary has performed with major orchestras and conductors throughout the country and is considered an exciting interpreter of Baroque and Classical repertoires, especially Haydn.
Randall Rushing is the Director of the Rudi Scheidt School of Music at the University of Memphis. As a gifted tenor soloist, he too has performed with major symphonies and on the opera stage. He recently sang Handel’s Messiah at Lincoln Center and has an upcoming performance of it at Carnegie Hall.
Evan Jones is Assistant Professor of Voice at the University of Memphis. He has been the featured baritone soloist in a wide variety of roles on the opera stage as well as musical theatre and operetta.
