Charles Haddon Spurgeon described the study of the Psalms as  “feasting on angels’ food.”  Its laments and praises seem to echo the cry of our own hearts, giving form, volume and expression to our feelings. Reading the Psalms is like sneaking a peak at the diary of “everyman,” whose heart is laid bare before the Lord.

Psalm 84:5 tells us, “blessed are they … whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.”  A pilgrimage is moving toward a sacred spot; a pilgrimage of the heart is moving toward the Lord from grace to grace. It is both an everyday process and a lifelong journey, step by step, mile by mile, year by year. Our pilgrimage through the book of Psalms will be much like John Bunyan’s character, Christian, whose journey took him through many dangers, toils and snares on his way to the Celestial City.

Come with us on pilgrimage as our hearts draw near to our Lord Jesus Christ, through the banquet of the Psalms. “Come, taste and see that the Lord is good.” (Psalm 34:8)
