Establish the Work of our Hands
“May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us;
establish the work of our hands for us -
yes, establish the work of our hands.” — Psalm 90:17

A Letter from the Director
July 2010
Dear Women at Second,
I am, once again this year, honored to be your Women In Ministry director here at Second Presbyterian Church. I am humbled to be in this position and continue to feel strongly that the Lord has called me to this place of service. It is, of course, the Lord who established this ministry long ago and it is my absolute pleasure to join in His work, under His direction, for His good purposes at this time.
Our theme for this year is Establish the Work of Our Hands. Scripture tells us that we are “created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do”. Knowing this, it seems obvious that we would ask Him what it is that He has planned for us to do in our lives. We can pray Psalm 90:17, “Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!” We can rest assured that there is no better place for us to be than right where the God of the universe puts us because His love for us is unfailing and His plan is perfect.
In keeping with the Women In Ministry vision and mission, we have been working to establish programs and events for this year that will engage and equip us to bring Jesus Christ to the people that we encounter. Every program or event that presents itself for consideration is passed through the grid of the WIM vision and mission statement to see if it meets the goals of our ministry. We want everything that we do to encourage us as women to grow in our relationship with Christ starting from wherever we are in our life, right now.
With all of this in mind, we have chosen a slate of incredibly exciting WIM programs, events and service opportunities for you to be involved in here at the church, in the community, and in the world. There are six different Bible Studies offered for you to choose from with a variety of topics to study. They are scheduled at various times so that you can, hopefully, find one that works for you. We will have several luncheons throughout the year with inspiring guest speakers and we encourage you to invite your friends to come with you to these events. The mentoring programs will be back, including small group mentoring as well as individual confidential mentoring. There are several opportunities for service available both here in our city with our One by One ministry and around the world with our short term mission trips. Girl’s Night Out will be back with fun topics and good times for all ages. The always popular Women’s Retreat will be back in the spring with a nationally known speaker to teach us and challenge us in our walk with the Lord.
I encourage you to consider prayerfully the steps the Lord is calling you to take in order to equip and prepare yourself for the work He has for you to do. Use this booklet as a resource to help intentionally develop your plan of action. Remember the WIM website is available and it is a great place to find answers too many questions that you may have. Please know that I care about you and am here to support you in any way that I can. Call or come by the WIM office anytime and remember
In His Service,
Yvonne Hardin,
Director, Women In Ministry
