Mentoring Opportunities
Bloom
A Christian Life Growth Experience for the Women of Second Presbyterian Church
Bloom is the name of our small group mentoring program for the women at Second Presbyterian Church. With the challenges of living a Godly life in a fallen world it is most important that our older and younger women come together to teach, to learn and to share their experiences, hopes and desires for living a Christian life. 2 Thessalonians 2:15 tells us “So then brothers, stand firm and hold to teaching we passed to you whether by word of mouth or letter.”
This program targets younger woman just out of college through young adulthood (approximately ages 22-24) to come alongside a more mature Christian woman who has already experienced the things everyday life throws at you. If you are interested in growing as a Christian woman, building relationships that can last a lifetime, and learning how to live a Christian life in your work, singleness, marriage, or parenting, then this experience might be for you.
In addition, for more experienced women (ages 40+) if you have these life experiences and would like to help younger women conquer some of the struggles and celebrate some of the joys you have faced, and you are willing to commit the time, be authentic, hold your group accountable, provide a safe environment, and lead younger women, then you should consider offering yourself as a mentor. As you give, you shall receive.
Groups will be organized with approximately 3-4 protégés to one mentor. There will be suggested topics for discussion and recommended books to support them. The ideal time commitment would be a couple of hours a couple of times a month. However, it is imagined that each group will take on its own style for discussions and meetings. These groups are designed to meet for approximately 12 months but some groups may last a lifetime. New groups will be starting as requested. Please contact the Women in Ministry office if you are interested in being a protégé or a mentor.

Walk with Me
Walk with Me is a one-on-one mentoring program through Women In Ministry designed to offer confidential prayer support, Christian fellowship, encouragement, spiritual guidance and teaching. It is women helping women through various major issues of life; it is a friend to support someone spiritually, relationally and emotionally. Using a confidential questionnaire and evaluation process, women are paired with an experienced mentor. Though not a substitute for professional counseling or conflict resolution, mentors seek to provide support to other women during times of deep need.
