From the Director

Dear Women at Second,

It is with a great sense of excitement that we present our schedule of programs and events for the upcoming year! So many people have worked diligently to prepare for, what is sure to be, a year of growth and service that will help us develop and mirror our individual and collective devotion to God.

Our theme for this year is Seeking God with Our Whole Heart. In 1 Timothy 4:7b–8 we read, “Rather train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” We want to focus on “training” ourselves to be godly women. This goal will take a personal commitment that will not always be easy. We will, no doubt, need help and encouragement along the way to put into practice the things we learn. The good news is: our motivation can come from knowing that there is great value in this pursuit of seeking a deeper devotion to God and it holds promise for all eternity! So, let’s get started.

We have been working to establish programs and events for this year that will challenge and equip us to pursue godly lives. Every program or event that presents itself for consideration is passed through the grid of the WIM vision and mission statements to see if it meets the goals of our ministry. We want everything that we do to encourage us as women to grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ starting from wherever we are in our lives, right now.

With all of this in mind, we have selected a slate of very exciting WIM programs, events, and service opportunities for you to be involved in here at the church, in the community, and around the world. There are six different Bible Studies offered for you to choose from with a variety of topics to study. We will have several luncheons throughout the year with captivating guest speakers, and we encourage you to invite your friends to come with you to these events. The mentoring programs will be back, including small group mentoring as well as individual confidential mentoring. There are several opportunities for service available both here in our city and around the world. Our Girls’ Night Out will be back with new, fun topics, and our popular women’s Retreat is scheduled again in the spring with a speaker who will challenge us to live as godly women.

I encourage you to prayerfully consider the steps the Lord is calling you to take in order to grow in your devotion to Him. Use this booklet as a resource to help intentionally develop your plan of action. Remember the WIM website is available and it is a great place to find answers to many questions that you may have. Please know that I care about you and I am here to support you in any way that I can. Call or come by the WIM office anytime and remember Nancy Webster, our WIM Administrative Assistant, is also here to help.

In His Service,

Yvonne Hardin
