Music at Second
The Music Ministry is dedicated to fulfilling our mission to lead the congregation in joyful worship through music. We want to exercise and develop the God-given musical talents of this congregation so they can be used to glorify Him.
Adults
The Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir leads the congregation in worship and in song at the 11:00 a.m. service on Sunday mornings and in special services and concerts throughout the year. This is the main group of volunteer singers made up of all ages and abilities. In addition to these events, Chancel Choir members attend Wednesday night rehearsals, Sunday morning warm-ups and occasional sectional rehearsals.
The Westminster Singers
The Westminster Singers is a smaller ensemble of singers chosen by the director of music from members of the Chancel Choir. This group serves at the 8:15 a.m. Sunday worship services and at other special services as the need arises. Westminster Singers attend Wednesday evening rehearsals and rehearse before the 8:15 a.m. service.
Sunday Mornings
Warm-up rehearsals before services begin at:
7:30 a.m. for the 8:15 a.m. service (usually Westminster Singers only), and
10:30 a.m. for the 11:00 a.m .service (Chancel Choir)
Wednesday Night Rehearsals
Rehearsals are 90 minutes long and begin promptly at 7:30 p.m. each Wednesday night that MidWeek classes are in session. Rehearsals are held in the choir room.
Youth
The Youth Ensemble
The Youth Ensemble is for seventh through twelfth graders. They rehearse Wednesday evenings, 5:30 - 6:15 p.m. in the adult choir room. The ensemble sings at various services throughout the year.
Children
Our Mission is to provide a comprehensive music program for kids that educates, motivates and encourages them to use their gifts in the area of the arts for the Glory of God!
MidWeek Program
6:30 - 7:30 p.m., September through November and January through May
Our Wednesday night music program is geared for kids ages 3 1/2 through first grade. Your child will enjoy a time of singing, movement and story time. A snack, provided by parent volunteers, is also included. Jr. Cherub, Sr. Cherub, and 1st grade choirs sing for worship during the choir year as well as for the Hanging of the Green service at advent. A joint children's and youth choir concert is given in the spring. All choirs meet in the PDS building.
Transition Choir: for kids age 3 (** must be 3 years old by April 1), D103
Jr. Cherub Choir: for kids that are 4 or currently enrolled in a pre K program, D100
Sr. Cherub Choir: for kids currently enrolled in a Kindergarten program, D102
1st Grade Choir: for first graders, D103
Sunday Evening Choirs
4:30 - 6:00 p.m., September through November and January through May
Children in grades 2nd - 6th are invited to join us for choir in D109 from(4:30 - 5:30 p.m.) and dinner, provided by parent volunteers 5:30 - 6:00 p.m., in room C100. This exciting program provides many artistic experiences form singing to drama. Both Sunday night choirs sing in worship throughout the choir year and perform a musical in the spring. Other activities have included singing off site for nursing homes and "Christmas Cottage", going to local theatre production.

Summer Opportunities
Me & U is for children ages 3 through those who have completed kindergarten. It is designed for you and your child to enjoy time together with friends and each other. Your child will enjoy music, movement and a story time while you join other moms for creative ideas and helpful hints on a wide variety of topics. Moms join their children for a craft time together in the Fellowship Hall. Thursday Mornings in July.
Rhythm U Arts Camp is geared for children that have completed the first grade through those entering the sixth grade. Students participate in a visual arts class, drama and music. A program is presented on Friday for parents and friends. Rhythm U meets daily during first week of August, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
