Conservatory Staff

TerriTerri Theil, Director: Vocal Instruction

Our Conservatory director, Terri Theil, has served as director of Children's Music Ministry at Second Presbyterian Church for the past eight years. She also directs Second's Adult Handbell Choir, hosts the annual Rhythm U Arts Camp for children, and will be the primary voice instructor for the Second Conservatory. She is a soloist for community groups as well as for the Second Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir. Her experience includes over 10 years as a vocal instructor in the Memphis area and fourteen years as a music teacher for Memphis City Schools.  Terri holds a degree in Music Education and has extensive experience leading adult and children's choirs in addition to teaching vocal technique.

LenoraLenora Morrow: Piano, Pipe Organ

Lenora Morrow has been the organist at Second Presbyterian Church of Memphis since September of 2007. She holds degrees in organ performance from Winthrop University (B.Mus. 2001) and musicology from the University of South Carolina (M.Mus. 2005). Her keyboard experience is broad, ranging from harpsichordist for the Winthrop University Collegium Musicum Early Music Ensemble, to jazz keyboards for Carolina Alive, the University of South Carolina’s jazz combo. She accompanied extensively throughout her academic career, both voice and instrumental studios. Lenora has taught piano in the Academy of Arts at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina and has been teaching private organ and piano since coming to Second.

DeeDee Walker: Flute

Dee Walker completed her BM and MM degrees in Flute Performance and Music Theory from Rice University in Houston, Texas where she taught and performed in the area until moving to Memphis in 1990. She continued a full-time career in music, teaching and playing in the Tri-state area until coming on staff at Second Presbyterian Church in September, 1998. Currently Dee assists Rocky Anthony on the Pastoral Division and continues to play principle flute with the Germantown Symphony and chamber music with several local musicians.

MattMatt Sliger: Guitar, Percussion

Matt Sliger graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in music education from Tennessee Technological University in 2006. During his years in college he served as worship pastor in the local church and taught lessons for the university music department. Matt is currently in his final semester of studies at Mid-America Seminary pursuing a Masters of Divinity. He also serves as a pastoral intern at South Woods Baptist Church. He is married to Julie Sliger who teaches the transition choir at Second Presbyterian Church.

Griffen BrowneGriffin Browne: Cello

Griffin Browne holds degrees in Cello Performance from Stetson University in Florida (B.Mus.2006) and the University of Memphis (M.Mus.2008). He has performed in orchestras throughout the Mid-South area and has taught Cello both privately and in the classroom. Griffin is currently pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Cello Performance at the University of Memphis.

Cynthia BrowneCynthia Browne: Violin

Cynthia Browne completed her BA degree in Violin Performance from the University of Memphis in 2009. During her college years, Cynthia performed with the University of Memphis Symphony Orchestra on campus and within the community and in 2007 accompanied them on their China Tour in Shanghai. Cynthia has taught violin at the Germantown Baptist Conservatory and is presently a violin instructor at the University of Memphis Community Music School.
