In 2011, the Lord led John & Carlene to go back to the field as part of the EPC/WO Engage 2025 initiative. Working with a couple in South Asia, they began exploring the possibility of a mariculture project as a means of making ongoing connections with remote and previously unengaged people. John had a vision to use a business to employ local villagers and eventually form a church. They commenced growing and selling sea creatures, eventually building a hatchery. Just this year, they reached the break even point on the business and have seen the local government adopt this type of farming as a primary economic focus. The team is encouraged to see national believers accepted into Muslim communities, and the “inspectors” establishing a growing community of like-minded family on the island where their base is located.

2026 Prayer Requests

• Pray for the national leaders and other groups now working on these islands. They have seen first fruits, but the goal is for bodies of believers throughout the islands.
  
  
• Pray that John and team would have wisdom in navigating this work with the government. Pray that they would be a light in all their relationships.
  
  
• Pray that hatchery production will continue to increase in the coming months. This has been the most challenging aspect of this project and is critical for long-term expansion.
